"Toshiba Laptop A505 - How to Replace the Cooling Fan"

Summary: not difficult to remove once keyboard is out of way but there is a hidden screw.

 

Background:

Laptops and even desktops for that matter will shut down if the CPU chip overheats.

If you have used a can of compressed air on the cooling fins of your laptop and it is still shutting down or you can tell the fan is not turning at all or very slowly, you will have to replace the laptops' cooling fan.

 

Fan replacement:

Remove keyboard.

Locate fan and find hidden screw and remove.

Find fan number and buy identical. Might be on eBay or other places.

To ensure on air leak, I used foil tape over top of cooling fins.
