"AT&T Home Security System - Replacing"

3 November 2011

Summary: if you want or need to replace an AT&T home security system, do not count on anything from the AT&T system being useable in any newer system. Please be advised that there are many folks still using the AT&T system and are always needing parts.

AT&T Home Security System - Central Controller

Background:

The AT&T home security system was sold through dealers in the early 1990's and was an expensive system to buy and have installed.

But then AT&T left the home security market and has not built new components since.

SO, most installed systems are now 20+ years old.

The most common reason for replacing the AT&T home security system is that the original monitoring station company has gone out of business and the home owner feels remote monitoring is a requirement.

While the AT&T home security system uses "standard" codes when "talking" with a remote monitoring station, most, if not all, remote monitoring companies do not have the AT&T central controller (CC) programmer required to change the telephone number stored in the CC.

Can new system use any AT&T components?

Sure would be nice, but "no".

Perhaps I am wrong but every home security system has its own design and does not want to work with the components of any other home security system.

Do not discard AT&T home security system components:

There are many homeowners that still have AT&T home security systems that are always in need of additional components.

If you are a mind to, eBay can be a good place to attempt to sell AT&T home security system components.
