"Sears DYS4500 Lawn Tractor - Steering Arm Hitting Deck Drive Pulley"

Summary: Arm from steering wheel attaches to metal tab at wheel. If metal tab bent down, steering arm can hit deck pulley on engine crankshaft.

 

Background:

Sears DYS4500 with 1200 hours.

Hearing metal grinding noises.

Inspection under finds steering arm on right side, from front of tractor pressed into deck drive pulley?

Left side steering arm not hitting pulley.

When look at left and right, notice that right side metal tab where steering arm attached via ball joint, pressed down further than one on left side.
