Instruction on first use of Investment Cost Basis Master (ICBM) Application software.
Summary: first an investor is defined to the system, then an investment for the defined investor and finally transactions related to the defined investor's investment. The application supports (only limited by personal computer disk space) multiple investors, investments per investor and multiple transactions per investment.
After Investment Cost Basis Master (ICBM) has been installed, the only main menu options available are "System" and "Investors." System can be the starting place to enter data into the application but better to start by defining an investor. Menu's are enabled only when there is data started in the application that makes a specific menu or menu item valid for use.
When the "Investors information" menu option is clicked, this screen is presented. To enter a new investor to the application, click on the "System Investor Name:" field, erase "New Investor" and type the name of a new investor.
With a new investor name entered into the "System Investor Name" field, enter the"Investor Legal Name." Once "Investor Legal Name" has been entered, enter key will enable the "Store Investor Information" command button. You may store investor information now and then add additional, optional information, or store and then update optional information and store again.
Once the "Store Investor Information" command button has been mouse clicked, the status of "Stored" will appear below all enabled command buttons. You have now defined a single investor to the application. You may add additional investors at this time but clicking on the "System Investor Name" field, selecting "New Investor", erasing, "New Investor" and entering the next investor name.
With at least one investor defined to ICBM, the main menu will now display the Investment menu option. If you mouse click on Investment, you will be presented with a drop down menu. At this point, your only option is "Investment Information: Enter, Edit, Delete or Print".
With the Investment information screen displayed, you click on Investor to select the investor you are dealing with, then the down arrow of the "Account Type" field. Account types are fixed and include most if not all known account types.
Once an investor is defined and the account type, the "Investment Name" field will be enabled. To enter the name of a real investment, you click on "Investment Name" field, erase "New Investment" and enter the actual name of the investment. Once a real name as been entered via the Enter key, other fields on the screen will be enabled for data entry. Once all data applicable to an investment has been entered, "Store Investment Information" command button will be enabled and when you click on it, investment information is stored.
